Petrified Wood

This listing is for this beautiful one of its kind- Petrified Wood Slab. It measures roughly 6in W x 5 1/2 H x 1/4 thick.

Petrified wood is made of of tree trunks that were buried in mud, sand, or volcanic ash roughly 150 million years ago, and has turned to stone. This action is caused by water that seeps through the mud and sand into the buried logs. There it fills with empty cells of the decaying wood with mineral matter, until the whole structure has become solid stone.
