Utah Septarian Nodules Stone Egg

Description

Utah Septarian Nodules are found about 15 miles east of Zion National Park, Utah. They were formed in an ancient sea floor during the Cretaceous Period (30-70 million years ago). As they weathered out of the gray clay hills, one at a time, they could be picked up on the surface. Now they are usually found 20-30 feet underground. Their composition is made of Calcite (yellow centers), Aragonite (brown lines), Limestone (gray rock) and Barite (White or clear parts).

 

This Septarian Stone Egg is unique weighing 1/2 a pound and 2 and 3/4 inches tall with a width of 2inches.
