Description

Epidote got its name in 1801 by Rene Just Haüy from the Greek word ‘epidosis’, meaning “increase”, in allusion to how the crystal characteristic grows longer from the base. It is a sorosilicate mineral. It’s often found in association with other minerals like quartz, feldspar, garnet and others. It’s commonly found in metamorphic and igneous rocks in regions like Norway, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland and parts of the USA.
